Changing your Mindset about Mobile Video
In this module and I hope the entire course, I’m going to change your mind set about what you can do with your mobile. Because this little device here, is more than good enough for you to capture and preserve your family’s story in High Definition video.
In fact, you have no excuse for not making amazing family videos, as for the first time in history you can shoot, edit, broadcast and playback videos on the one device. And that device just happens to fit in your pocket.
But does your mobile shot good quality video?
Now I get asked this question all the time and the simple answer is. Yes it is. Is the quality as good as a traditional video camera or digital camera. No, but it’s good enough and unlike these devices you pretty much always have your phone with you. Just to demonstrate this, let’s take a quick look here is a side by side comparison of footage shot on a 6 thousand Sony NEX FS100 and a Samsung Galaxy s6 and Apple 7 Plus.
As you can see the S6 & iPhone 7 Plus stack up quite well and over time the cameras on mobile devices are only going to get better and better. The iPhone 7 plus is a good example of this as this little baby is amazing it has 2 lenses one for wide shots and one for close ups and can film slow motion and time-lapse right from the camera app. I used to be an Android Man, but I changed when this came out.
Now there is a rule often used in Photography, and it applies to video too, and that the best camera is the camera you have. And that’s because getting the best shot or capturing the best video isn’t always about the quality of the camera it’s about being in the moment – being in the right place at the right time and a phone enables you to do that more than any other camera out there. And this is especially the case when it comes to filming children, who are often really hard to work with.
